Hi All,
       I am building a nixie clock with the IN-4 nixie tubes.  The voltage range that gets thrown around a lot is 180V, but they light up at about 140V.  Is there any lamp life advantage to driving them at the lowest possible voltage, or does it not matter?

Basically the way to look at it is this:  The higher voltage you push through them, the brighter they are, but the shorter they'll live.  So find a nice balance, if they light up at 140, but you want them to be brighter, see if 150 or 160 works. 

We're not talking a drastic lifespan change in that range, but running them at 180 would shave a little off their life.

Don't go running them at 200 or higher.... that would really suck the life out of them.  If not break them.

Thanks for the info!

I will try running them a bit above their minimum voltage and see if I need to bump them up for daytime viewing.
